"Fun-filled, eclectic stuff all over ~ it took us days
to laugh our loving way through seeing everything.  I've never
been to a place like this, nor listened to such knowledge before
about our history and country.  US Army Officers, June, 2011

"A cute little mansion, definitely not a luxury getaway at the
Peabody, rather a wonderful place to relax.  Adorable!  Not at ALL
what we expected or envisioned - a surprise!"
Frank & Joanne, May, 2009

"I've had enough of gourmet everything and the Ritz in Paris for
$900.00 per night.  We wanted something with history to sink
our teeth into and we got it with tasty food!" James, August, 2010

"Evidently thousands of us out here love, love, LOVE this place!
If you're an angry, little person pretending to turn yourself
into a "reviewer," then stop in here and rip this place open
on the internet when you get back home.  Although
we've never met, we can tell you'll hate it - already.
But WE'LL be back for sure!
John and Gladys, December 2010

"If you drive a Ferrari and are looking for nouveau-riche, ultra-sheik accommodations, this loving home is not for you.  I read a few of the freakish comments from people that disliked this family and their stay.  It only peeked my interest FURTHER!!!  Rather, it's a quirky, little place that is amazing and caring!"

Mr. Mongiello,

"I just wanted to take a moment to say Thank You.  My sister Claudia and I had the most enjoyable time at your Inn.  We took a chance since you were newly opened and stayed 2 days in April.  We both felt like we became part of your family.  I still find it hard to believe that you dear sir are a Yankee from Philadelphia and not a native southerner.  I have never been treated like such a lady as during our stay at your inn.  Claudia is still raving to our friends about your cooking.  We will be coming back in the fall so please make sure to have a room for us the weekend of the Kings Mountain Reenactment in September - October.

Our husbands may enjoy tents, but we would rather enjoy your hospitality again.  May God bless you and your wonderful family."

The Inn was a most wonderful place, Stormy, Marti and JT you guys were the perfect hostess and hosts.  We’re looking forward to our next stay, maybe in early winter.  What a wonderful getaway we had!  Your Inn is one of the most comfortable I have ever stayed in and so many available services on site.  Having an in house spa put you over the top for me.  I was treated like a Princess and Jesse Ray like a KING - Royalty!"

Oceanicus Blue Dreams

Oceanicus Blue Dreams features a tip of the hat to Cornelius Vanderbilt and the great shipping fleets of the world he and the Vanderbilt family adored.  This room is loaded with tons of eclectic, collections and items from the Civil War Navy's.  As our mansion is only a short drive from the Vanderbilt Estate the influence is very strong.  The, "Biltmore," is still the largest private home in America and is now the most visited winery in America.  We think this says a lot about where we live, in Western North Carolina.  The roll-top desk has tons of tiny drawers and there are hidden items in each drawer to find and discover!  Along the bulkheads are lighthouses and ships, spyglasses and shells, log books and scrolls of antique paper as well as shiny brass lanterns, cutlasses, iron handguns, knives and swords.  We have been shocked by how many ladies want to stay in this room!  However, if you don't enjoy eclectic clutter and tons of fun, little items all over the place and hidden in drawers (love letters) - you won't enjoy this particular room (you will find love-letters from the war written between sailors and their wives to read as well as dance cards and amazing things).  This is the room with the Confederate War Bond in the wall of the closet.  A king size bed with hand-carved, elegant headboard awaits you with gel-foam insert padding and tremendously extra-fluffy, fluffy, fluffy mattress!

This room has an ironing board and iron, Lord & Mayfair Amenity collection, one water bottle per day (no charge), FM/AM stereo with CD player, DISH TV with 200+ channels DVD and DVR, Roadrunner Business 5 GB Wi-Fi internet access (secure access), closet, foot and back massage machine, ceiling fan and intimate lighting, luggage rack, digital clock and sleep machine.  This is a shared bath with one other room and the owners on the second floor but also has the downstairs, public bathroom available (two for the choosing).  Sometimes it is called the Blue Room or Sailors Den and we have been surprised over how many ladies demand to stay in this room!  Also, enjoy watching the famous Hollywood movie, "Hooch," filmed in this mansion in 1977 on your DVD player (a comedy spoof film).  149 per night.  Above all, don't get into any arguments in this room (there is a ton of weaponry in it)!

Nature and Earth

Nature and Earth features two full sized sapling trees inside the room with a flowing water fountain and queen size bed with wrought iron headboard.  Lanterns, interesting quartz rocks, a living hosta plant, glowing igneous rock, outdoor patio set, gem/rock and wood samples and rock-hewn tables await you along with green apples, eucalyptus and a huge scarf over roman window shades!  This room was painted from the Biltmore Estate palette of licensed colors by Olympic Paints and specifically from Frederick Law Olmsted's outdoor natural palette from his planned gardens and forests at the Biltmore.

This room has an ironing board and iron, Lord & Mayfair Amenity collection, one water bottle per day (no charge), FM/AM stereo with CD player & DVD player, flat screen TV with DISH, foot and back massage machine, "the Burning Bush Lamp," Roadrunner Business 5 GB Wi-Fi internet access (secure  access), a large closet, ceiling fan and intimate lighting, bamboo luggage rack and blue light digital clock.  This is a shared bath with the owners and one other room on the second floor.  You will find this room to be refreshing and down to earth offering a welcome respite from society with birds chirping in the morning.  Also, enjoy watching the famous Hollywood movie, "Hooch," filmed here in 1977 on your DVD player (a comedy spoof film).  149 per night.

Cancellation and Early Departure Policies:  In the interest of good customer relations we understand that cancellations are sometimes unavoidable.  We often try to reschedule cancellations off-season if we can re-rent the room.  We often cannot reschedule on a weekend or prime season.  But, we sure will try! :)  We also DO NOT HONOR expiration for any certificates as we feel they are just another way to rip people off.  Despite some vouchers having an expiration on them (simply because they need to), you can still use them.  The longest ever a lady redeemed with us was three years.

Reservations: From the date your reservation is confirmed a $35.00 cancellation fee will be charged per room.  Your 50% deposit is non-refundable if you cancel within 90 days prior to your reservation date.  For cancellations within four (4) weeks of your arrival date you will be charged the total amount shown on your guest folio.  We have significant special events requests, including wedding families and parties - please understand the great impact cancellations can have on others.  We always offer to reschedule with you for another date that is open to help you not to lose your money.  You will be given a 100% voucher for your room to come and stay again sometime.  NO SHOWS NO CALL, YOUR ROOM WILL BE SOLD FOR THE NIGHT OR ENTIRE RESERVATION.  Please do not call us after 10 pm.  We also regret that we cannot stay up until 2 am since you left your house late, or were out enjoying a late dinner with friends drinking, etc...  We go to sleep at 10 pm to ensure getting up early to cook for all of the other guests who showed up - and cannot make special exceptions.  A credit card is required to be on file for all reservations.

Inn, B & B and Hotel Policies: The Inn is a non-smoking facility.  Rates are based on double occupancy.  Well behaved children are welcome.  We provide a safe if needed and post notices about the safe being available in each room and throughout the Inn in common areas as well as on all of our websites, in our welcome emails and our confirmation emails.  We are not responsible for lost or stolen items and have a limited liability policy of $25.00 USD as the maximum recovery available in the event property is lost or stolen, subject to any investigation our insurer desires to complete.  We will abide with all insurance regulations and investigations protected under insurance fraud policies and laws.  In addition, we reserve the right to Polygraph under the Employee Polygraph Protection Act concerning incidents. Any vehicles parked on our premises are subject to the disclaimer notifying the guest that The Inn of the Patriots Bed and Breakfast will not be responsible in the event the vehicle is lost, damaged, or stolen.  Uninsured motorists or any form of illegal conduct is not accepted or endorsed at the Inn.

Loving pets: Pets are welcomed with a $20.00 non-refundable pet fee, per pet, per visit.  However, we cannot accommodate pets that are excitable or over 40 pounds.  Pets are not allowed to be abandoned in rooms during the day or left tied up to a pole on our property.  You certify by your stay that your pets shots are up to date and all records current and agree to Hold Harmless our Inn and owners.  Pets must be kept on a leash at all times on our property in common areas. Pets cannot be hidden inside of cars and left on the property.  Any pet found hidden, or casually forgotten on our property, "I swear we never knew it was not allowed to chain my dog back here for nine hours," will be removed with the Sherriff's Department and law enforcement.  Please utilize Puppy Luv pet kennel in Patterson Springs, NC - they are excellent.

Early Departures, No Shows, "Can't Make It," Cancellations and/or Inclement Weather Cancellations:  We provide you with a full voucher - 100% for another visit someday, when you can make it.  We are very sorry, cash or credit are not refundable but the voucher can be transferrable.  We like to work with you, we would like to help you come again on another day.  We provide you with a full 100% voucher of the room night to use at some other time up to one year later.  Most Inns and especially all hotels and all hotel chains do not have a policy like this - but we do.  Hotels simply take your money and offer no credit at all.  Then they re-rent the room that night and make twice the money.  We try to be a lot different than others!  We will work with you and help you, friend.  We also hold over 30 contracts with search engine hotel corporations and cannot change our policies listed with them, nor violate such for special circumstances.  When a room is blacked out via your reservation, it prevents us from selling it worldwide to our global travelers.  A cancelation of reservation prevents us from income in a very small hotel that maintains its survival on five rooms.  We do not have the luxury of a hotel owning 100 rooms.  The BBB and Chamber of Commerce have stated that our policies are above average and beyond normal - few B & B's have as generous as a policy as we do, worldwide.

  • Rates are subject to change and do not include local, state, and room taxes.

  • For a guaranteed reservation we require a valid Visa, Discover, AMEX or Master Card.

  • Gift Certificates are not refundable & some restrictions may apply.  Gift certificates won in auctions or from benefits and non-profits cannot be stacked and added up.  One night stays are allowed only - unless the certificate specifically states it is for a certain duration (i.e. a free week stay).  After a reservation is made for a gift certificate and the reservation is cancelled or becomes a no-show, no arrangements can be made for the future or to reschedule.  Please understand, the B & B cannot financially stay open by allowing free gift certificates to cancel or not show up.  It ends up being a double loss of funds to us out of a thing we were only trying to help a charity with.

  • Check in time is 5:00 - 10:00 p.m, unless other arrangements have been made. Check out time is 2:00 p.m.

  • Children are welcome with a $15 additional person charge applies for children seven years of age and older.

  • Smoking is permitted outdoors only in our enjoyable and huge nature living room.

Ask about joining us for the 1776 Experience of a Lifetime Package, full combat dress up to the rank of a General, all weaponry included, no contact allowed with the world, no watches, no phones, no computer usage.  Three days all inclusive with colonial B & B lodging for two (spouse can stay at B & B if you like) allows for one day of relaxation, all meals included, transportation +++
